Dalton man killed in fatal crash in Knoxville

The Knox County Sheriff's Office has identified a Georgia man who was killed in a Tuesday morning crash on I-40. Donald Gene Lay Jr, 47, of Dalton, was killed when his car slammed into the back of a flat-bed tractor trailer that was stopped because of a stalled vehicle. His passenger, Wally Khaber, 31, is also from Dalton. He was taken to UT Medical Center with serious injuries.
According to the local Sheriff's Office, a 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage crashed into the back of a flatbed tractor trailer just before the on-ramp from Watt Road. The tractor trailer was in traffic that had stopped because of a stalled vehicle.
