Isidro Martinez Campos, killed, after he is struck by a pickup, while riding his bicycle on N. Main Street in Galena Park.

A bicyclist died Wednesday night when a pickup hit him as he was riding on a street in Galena Park.

Isidro Martinez Campos was killed in the incident, which occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 2000 block of N. Main, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Campos was riding a bicycle on the improved shoulder along the roadway when he entered the southbound lane of traffic, failing to yield the right of way to a 1999 GMC pickup. The truck, which was traveling southbound on the road, hit him.

The impact of the collision tossed Campos from the bicycle. He landed on the roadway shoulder. He was rushed to Memorial Hermann hospital where he died.

Deputies said the pickup driver stopped after the collision and the bicycle was wedged in the truck's bumper.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash.
