Suspect in serious condition, taken to hospital, after armed robbery leads to police pursuit and crash on FM 1960 in Harris County.
Armed robbery at Burger King ends in chase, crash.
A man is in the hospital after an armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant led to a police chase in north Harris County.
Deputies say the man walked into the Burger King on Cypresswood and the North Freeway around 9 p.m. Thursday. The man pointed a gun at employees and demanded cash.
Once the man had cash, deputies say he jumped in his pickup truck and drove off. That’s when a deputy started chasing him.
The man led deputies on the freeway where he took the FM 1960 exit and then attempted to make a U-turn under the freeway. Officials say he was going too fast and jumped a curb, went airborne and slammed into the concrete pillar.
Officials say he was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
No one inside the Burger King was hurt during the robbery.
Deputies say the man hit a couple of cars on the road as he was driving away from the restaurant.
