Motorcyclist killed in NW Military Highway crash

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling south on Northwest Military Highway near Loop 1604 when an 18-wheeler headed northbound on the highway turned left in front of the motorcycle. Police said the big rig turned on a non-protected green light. The motorcyclist tried to lay down his bike, but his head hit the pavement, police said. The victim's helmet shattered and was killed instantly.

The 18-wheeler had a green light and was turning left from Northwest Military onto the westbound access road, but it did not have a protected green arrow, police said. The motorcyclist was heading the opposite direction on Northwest Military and laid down his motorcycle to try to prevent running into the 18-wheeler.

I live near this intersection and the 18 wheelers consistently run the lights. So sad that this man lost his life because someone was in such a hurry to make it through the intersection. I drove by shortly after the accident. It broke my heart.

What is sad is your comment above because you don't know the entire story.

What a stupid thing to say. The loss of a life is always sad. It doesn't matter how/why it happened.

Saying prayers for everyone involved in this accident.

this news is over a week old, can anyone tell me where to find the obituary?

He requested to not have one
