The American Job: 3 British men drive Mini Coopers across U.S. to raise money for boy's surgery

Today at Accident Data Center, we're wishing safe travels to three men riding in tiny cars for a good cause.  Four-year-old Jack Sims, of Portsmouth, United Kingdom, was born with Spastic Deplegia Cerebral Palsy, a condition that leaves him unable to walk. A surgery exists that can help, but it's only performed one place in the world by one doctor: at Saint Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri by Dr. T.S. Park. The surgery is cutting-edge and expensive, so three friends of the Sims family came up with a novel idea for a fundraiser. The three men, Alex Charlton, Peter Price, and Dudley Brooke, have shipped their Classic Mini Coopers across the Atlantic and are currently driving them across the United States, about four thousand miles in total, with the goal of raising 30,000 British pounds (about $46,000 USD). The men are calling their fundraiser The American Job
Inspired by the famous movie, The Italian Job, which featured (and, indeed, starred) three Classic Mini Coopers, these three inspiring men have started what will be the journey of a lifetime, to impact and improve the life of one small boy. Without their help, little Jack Sims will never walk without pain, or dance with a date, or play ball, or swim, as his twin brother can do. He will always be dependent on a walker, as his leg muscles continue to contract and tighten, month by month. With the surgery, his doctors have hopes that he can be made whole again. So Alex Charlton, Peter Price, and Dudley Brooke will drive in their tiny cars, asking Americans for help.
The voyage began in New Jersey, and along their route, the Mini Coopers will pass through Dayton, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Saint Louis, Missouri; Nashville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; Miami, Florida; Daytona Beach, Florida; Myrtle Beach, Florida; Jacksonville, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; Raleigh, South Carolina; and Washington, DC., before returning to New Jersey to fly home. You can find out where they are now by consulting the map found here.  You can donate to Jack Sim's surgery fund here, and follow The American Job on social media through the following accounts: www.theamericanjob.org Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/theamericanjob/ Instagram: theamericanjob Twitter: @theamericanjob Jack Sims in a Mini Cooper
