It is important to remember that truck drivers have a vital role to play in the nation’s economy. Unfortunately, even the portion of the public that recognizes the importance of that role often fails to understand the dangers of driving big rigs.
Theoretically, the driver, trucking company, company who performed any maintenance on the truck, and manufacturer of the cargo being hauled could all be responsible for your injuries to some degree.
If the semi-truck driver was an employee of a trucking company and operating the vehicle in the course and scope of his or her employment, the trucking company would also be liable for the injuries you sustained, as long as the driver’s conduct was negligent or reckless.
