Twin sister of Tarrant woman killed in hit-and-run asks other driver to turn herself in

A witness told police the fleeing driver was a young black woman in a 2008 or 2009 black Chevrolet Trailblazer. The SUV had heavy front-end damage. She was last seen exiting onto Arkadelphia Road.

Her vehicle fell from the interstate overpass near the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center to the roadway below, said Bill Yates, a Jefferson County deputy coroner.  The accident happened about 6:25 a.m. Pickett, a caregiver, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Woman charged with manslaughter in Birmingham fatal hit-and-run

Michelle Gill is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $45,000.
The twin sister of a Tarrant woman killed Sunday in a hit-and-run accident in Birmingham is asking that the woman who struck her sister early Sunday turn herself in. Anita Pickett, a 31-year-old home health caregiver, was on her way to work when her vehicle was struck by another vehicle about 6:25 a.m. on Interstate 59. Her vehicle fell from the interstate overpass near the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center to the roadway below, said Bill Yates, a Jefferson County deputy coroner.
