61-year-old man killed in weekend crash on Birmingham interstate

The collision caused one of the vehicles to slant left, and another car t-boned it. The other two drivers involved in the crash and a passenger were taken to the hospital. Authorities said their injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities on Monday identified a man killed in a three-car crash on Interstate 20/59 during Saturday night's storms.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Eugene Williams, 61. Several other motorists were also injured.

The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. on I-20/59 westbound between Arkadelphia Road and 20th Street in Ensley. Police said Williams was driving when he collided into the back of another car.

The collision caused one of the vehicles to slant left, and another car t-boned it. The other two drivers involved in the crash and a passenger were taken to the hospital. Authorities said their injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening.

Williams, who lived in the Birmingham area, was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:46 p.m.
