Fatal crash involving tanker truck in Center Point

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says a woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision in the 1800 block of Center Point Road around 6:30 this morning.

A pickup truck traveling northbound on Center Point crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a tanker truck pulling out of a lot.

The JCSO says the woman was a passenger in the pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck was a 23 year old man, and was transported to a hospital, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Woman killed in Friday Center Point crash identified

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Heather Renae Garrett, 24, of Birmingham. The crash occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Center Point Parkway (Alabama 75), near Polly Reed Road and 18th Avenue Northwest.
A pickup truck was traveling north on Center Point Road when it crossed into the south bound lanes and struck a tanker truck that was pulling out of a lot. The woman who died was a passenger in the pickup truck, and her identity is not yet released. The driver was a 23 year old man whose injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He was transported to a local hospital. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
