Kimberly woman killed in Blount County crash; teen daughter injured

They were traveling on Alabama 79 about 7:45 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway about three miles north of Cleveland and struck a tree.

A Kimberly woman was killed and her teen daughter injured in a Sunday night crash in Blount County.

The Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Polly Maria Franklin, 40. Authorities said she was a passenger in a 2006 Honda driven by the 18-year-old girl.

They were traveling on Alabama 79 about 7:45 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway about three miles north of Cleveland and struck a tree. Troopers said Franklin was pronounced dead on the scene.

The daughter, Kayla Marie Franklin, was injured. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her condition wasn't immediately available.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
