Leesburg mayor killed in bulldozer accident at home

Leesburg Mayor Edward Mackey was killed in a bulldozer accident at his home on Thursday morning, the Cherokee County coroner confirmed. Mayor Mackey was working on the bulldozer and was underneath it when somehow it engaged and pulled him underneath, coroner Jeremy Deaton said. The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. and Mackey was pronounced dead on the scene.

Leesburg's mayor has died in an accident at his home. According to the Cherokee County coroner, Mayor Edward Mackey was working on the bulldozer when it engaged and pulled him underneath. He was pronounced dead on the scene and preliminary reports show the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma. Mackey was in his third term as the city's mayor.
