Investigators identify Tuscaloosa man killed by Amtrak train while on track wearing headphones

Phillips said witnesses reported that Ross was wearing headphones while walking down the track and may have never heard the train coming.

Investigators have identified the man struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Tuscaloosa Thursday afternoon as a local 21-year-old man.

Sgt. Dale Phillips, the commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said the victim was Cecil Dillon Ross, who was struck by the train and killed around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Phillips said witnesses reported that Ross was wearing headphones while walking down the track and may have never heard the train coming.

Phillips said the case is being worked as an accident, and no evidence suggests and kind of foul play was involved in the man's death.
