A woman is recovering after being struck during a hit-and-run accident near the Summit shopping center earlier this week.

A 45-year-old woman was walking near the Summit shopping center in the 4100 block of Crosshaven Drive at night when she was struck from behind by a vehicle that feld the scene. She was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were not considered life-threatening. Police are searching for a newer-model Toyota Camry with damage to its front end. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Vestavia Hills Police Department at 205-978-0140.
