Child, 3, dies after being struck by vehicle in Opelika
Tragedy struck the Opelika community yesterday as a three year old male was struck by a vehicle on Samford Court in Opelika. Opelika Police and Fire and East Alabama Medical Center EMS responded to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at approximately 2:30 PM Saturday afternoon.

A 3-year-old boy was hit by a car near the intersection of Chester Avenue and Samford Court. At the scene, a 31-year-old woman was found injured after an alleged assault, and police are unsure if these incidents are related. The boy died of his injuries the following day, and the woman is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are investigating these incidents and will not release the victims' identities until after the investigation is finished.
