Woman dead after traffic stop in Phenix City ends in police chase, crash into home

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Lee Road 443 near the intersection of Lee Road 236. The deputy sheriff involved has been taken to the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika for examination and treatment. PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A police chase ended with an injured deputy and a fatal wreck on Friday afternoon. A pursuit was initiated for a short distance down Lee Road 443 to a point where the deputy again attempted to take the female into custody. She then drove her vehicle at the deputy, who discharged his firearm toward her vehicle.
