Alabama Law Enforcement State Troopers report that Matthew Blake McNiel of Pansey was driving a pickup on U.S. 84 two miles east of Ashford when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. McNiel was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene. The accident occurred around 5:40 a.m. Friday.
