All northbound lanes of I-59 near the 221 mile marker were closed.

The Fort Payne Police Department says a freightliner collided with a van on Interstate 59 near mile marker 221 Tuesday night.

Fiery crash on Interstate 59 claims life of Gadsden man

The interstate was closed from 2 a.m. to6 a.m. Wednesday morning, causing traffic to be rerouted to Highway 11, said DeKalb County deputies.
Police confirmed a fatal wreck on I-59 at mile marker 221 early Wednesday morning between an 18-wheeler and a minivan near Fort Payne.
