Sandy Mitchell Hadley II, 20, and Sarah Shea Williams, 18, dead and multiple people injured in five-vehicle crash on Baldwin Beach Express in Baldwin County, Alabama
Two people are dead and multiple others are injured following a police pursuit on the Baldwin Beach Express.
According to police sources, a Summerdale Police Officer was chasing a vehicle when it crashed into other vehicles near County Road 39.
Sources say the two people who died were in the vehicle being pursued.
Trooper Jamie Maloy said in an email Friday that, "This is not an officer involved" accident. Maloy said, "Dash cam video shows the officer never caught up prior to crash."
County Road 36 is a country, two-lane road that intersects with the Baldwin Beach Express. That’s four lanes of traffic plus a median. When Hadley blew through the stop sign investigators say he was easily going over a hundred miles an hour.
The video, only two minutes and 19 seconds of 43 minutes of video from that night, ends just as the officer approaches the intersection of Baldwin Beach Express. “He was just slowing down and when he topped one little hill, you don’t see anything. When he topped the other hill, that’s when you see where the accident had already taken place.”
