To RBRANCHICK, What a sweet letter you wrote and a letter to warn people about how dangerous this road is for pedestrians and your condolences for Kaseys family, thank you so much!

Please help get the word out. Something must be done. Spring breakers are in putting themselves in danger by NOT driving and drinking! There must be an answer.

Gulf Shores is benefiting monetarily and are looking the other way as this goes on every night. Parents would be horrified to see their kid walking on this road, day or night, alcohol related or not.

I visited Gulf Shores for the first time this past week and actually stayed a the 1300 block of West Beach Blvd. There were spring beakers walking up and down the road all hours of the night. This is a DARK 2 lane road with a narrow bike path on the side. It is very difficult to see the pedestrians. From where we stayed, it was 1.5 miles to the downtown area and believe me when I tell you, there were numerous kids walking on the side of the road. As a parent, I was freighted by the thought of what could have happened... and sickened when I learned what the sirens I had heard in the middle of the night were responding to. Please realize I am not placing ANY blame whatsoever on this girl. This is horrific and tragic and no family should have to endure the loss of a child. Because of this, I want to get the word out to all parents who have kids in Gulf Shores on spring break to talk with them about this very dangerous road they are walking on. AND... I implore the citizens of Gulf Shores and Baldwin County to step up and do something about this. Drinking and driving is absolutely unacceptable and I can only assume some of these kids are walking to prevent just that. However, they are placing themselves in danger by walking on the road at night. I hope we can count on locals to do whatever possible to keep our kids off this road, especially at night. God Bless sweet Kasey and her whole family.
