Police suspect that a pedestrian killed Saturday walked in front of a truck being driven by a man who had been drinking, officials said Monday.

Danny Pylant, 57, of the 9600 block of Kingfisher Court, is suspected in an accident that claimed the life of a 44-year-old Tennessee man in Orange Beach, police said.

The victim, later identified as Taylor Colby, 44, was walking near Caribe Resort, 28103 Perdido Beach Blvd., when he was hit Saturday night.

Pylant is charged with criminally negligent homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol. Pylant's bonds on the charges were set at $10,000 on the criminally negligent homicide charge and $1,000 on the DUI charge.

He was released from the Baldwin County Corrections Center early Monday morning.

The Orange Beach Police Department is investigating the accident.

The victim is the second pedestrian killed in south Baldwin County since March 21.

Oklahoma State University student Kasey Waychoff 19, was hit by a pickup as she walked in a bicycle lane in the 1400 block of West Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores.

Justin Lott, 29, of Montgomery, was arrested in connection with Waychoff's death. Lott is charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury or death and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Lott was released from the Baldwin County jail March 25 after he posted a bond of $140,000.
