According to press release from the Alabama Department of Public Safety, 22-year-old Kirkpatrick Kendrick Tate was killed after his Honda Accord collided with a Ford Explorer. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was ejected from his vehicle.

The accident occurred on U.S. 80 at 10:45 p.m., two miles from Selma.

Burnette Lee, the driver of the Explorer, and three passengers were taken to Selma's Vaughn Medical Center for treatment.

Alabama State Troopers are still investigating.
