A Saturday four-wheeler crash claimed a Lower Kalskag woman’s life, after Alaska State Troopers say she was thrown from her vehicle and suffered head injuries.

Merna Spein was riding an ATV in Lower Kalskag when a collision caused her to be thrown from her vehicle. She suffered head injuries and was transported to a local medical center, but she entered cardiac arrest within 15 minutes of arrival at the medical center and was pronounced dead soon there after. Troopers believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, but few details about the incident have been released.
