Police: Passenger killed in Maricopa DUI crash

A suspected drunken driver was jailed in a single-vehicle crash in Maricopa that killed her 53-year-old passenger. Medical staff at Chandler Regional Hospital determined Sanchez had a .254 blood alcohol concentration, Maricopa police spokesman Ricardo Alvarado said. Alvarado said accident investigators pinpointed several causes of the accident - speed, impairment and failure to negotiate a T intersection. She was later released and booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for manslaughter and multiple DUI charges. Sanchez admitted to drinking alcohol prior to the accident, Alvarado said.
