A fatal car wreck forced police to close part of McDowell Road in east Phoenix on Thursday morning, according to a Phoenix police spokesman. Howard Wilson Laporte, 64, was traveling westbound on McDowell Road at 12:30 a.m. in an SUV on Thursday when the tread on his rear tire began to separate, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a Phoenix police spokesman. Investigators believe Laporte lost control of the SUV when the tire separated and slammed the vehicle into the side of the road, Thompson said. Laporte's vehicle rolled over and was ejected, but three nurses saw the wreck and responded immediately to provide medical attention to him, Thompson said. Despite the efforts of the nurses, Laporte died at a hospital Thursday morning, he said. The collision left the westbound lanes of McDowell Road closed near Galvin Parkway and caused traffic restrictions in the eastbound lanes of McDowell, Thompson said.

this is for Cheryl Pinkos...please email me at pawsattitude@gmail.com so my brother and I can go retrieve his personal affects. Thank you and we will miss Howie! Again, I am his sister in law and would like to know where he was living to go retrieve his belongings. Thank you!

I'm Howie's niece and he is the brother to my mother here in Connecticut, I'm reading all of these blog messages, and have not seen him in over 20 years and neither has his family here except for one sister he kept in contact. However, it appears he remarried after the divorce of his wife Cici for many years. So my question is if he has a wife and in-laws in Arizona why are none of them paying for his cremation and his sisters in CT are?? I notice that a so-called sister in law wanted to pick up his belongings any reason why when none of you have step up to the plate to take care of his funeral arrangements. A very tragic way to die, but more sad that people are not willing to take responsibility of his final arrangements, but posting how sad and close they are to him, apparently not to close, as it looks like you all turned your heads.....

We are sad to hear of Howies tragic accident! Howie, you will alway be remembered as a great person. Our condolences to the Laporte family.

I'm very sad to hear about Uncle Howie!! It has been many years since I have seen him but he leaves me with great memories and laughter!! Rip Uncle Howie!!

We are very saddened to hear of the tragic passing of our brother-in-law, Howie. We hope you are resting in peace and will one day meet with our dearly departed parents whom we dearly miss!! Our condolences to Howie's family on his passing.

I am in shock of the news I've heard tonight about my Uncle Howie. It's been years since I've seen him but I have some great memories from my childhood of spending time with him and my dear Aunt. I still remember his smile. He was a great friend to my father for many years and will be missed. RIP Uncle Howie and my thanks go to the nurses that came to his aid. It's hard to understand why those we love get taken from us but we can rest ashore and realize we have a new angel to watch over us. Please give Memere and Pepere a big hug and kiss for me ;) xo

I knew Howie for most of my life. He became part of my family when he married my sister. I am so upset to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful person and it saddens me to find out he is no longer with us. Rest in peace Howie. I hope you are happy wherever you are.

I am sad to learn of the tragedy with brother-in-law. He was a very kind, generous and good hearted person. He had served our country with honor and pride as a Marine! I will always remember our memories and continue to miss him! May he now rest in peace! Thank you to the nurses that were with him during this event and for assisting him with medical needs. RIP brother-in-law and you will be remembered and missed dearly in the hearts of those you touched! I love you!!

WOW!! this saddens me, I didn't know Howard to well but from what I heard about him he was a great friend to my father, my dad passed away 4-18-2014 and Howard lived with my dad and was there with him and took great care of my dad and his house. RIP Howard, tell my dad hello for me and let him know we love him very much!
