Police ID woman killed in Phoenix hit-and-run

Phoenix police say a woman whose body was found in a street early Thursday morning was killed in a hit-and-run collision.

The body of 49-year-old Patricia Anne Herrera was found in the road at 28th Avenue and Thomas Road by a citizen about 2 a.m., said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Martos said police determined it was a hit-and-run from the trauma to the body and evidence at the scene and on her body.

Martos said the vehicle involved might be maroon in color. There was no other information about the vehicle or a suspect.

Martos said Herrera's family had been notified of her death.
