Police could not provide any additional information about the driver and Thompson said detectives were continuing to investigate.

Police arrest suspect in fatal Phoenix hit-and-run

Joseph Patrick McDonald, 22, was booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, drug violations, shoplifting and a probation violation, among other potential charges, according to the Sheriff's Office website.
An elderly man was struck and killed in a late Saturday afternoon hit-and-run accident in northern Phoenix and police are still searching for the driver involved. Police state that Daniel R. Miller, 77, was walking across Bell Road near 12th Street a little after 5 p.m. Saturday when a 2002 Hyundai Accent hit him and fled the scene. Miller died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. Phoenix police found the Hyundai abandoned on Sunday and identified the driver as Joseph Patrick MacDonald, and he was arrested on February 5th.
