Man at Phoenix bus stop struck by vehicle, critically hurt

A 16-year-old boy walking near a bus stop at a major intersection in midtown Phoenix has died after being struck by a vehicle.

Police confirmed that Austin Benito was hit by an out-of-control pickup truck at about 7:15 at Central and Glendale avenues. The pickup and another truck collided in the intersection, according to police. The impact caused the pickup to careen off the road. It hit Benito as he was walking near a bus stop along on Glendale Avenue.

"He didn't need to have his life end like this. He should have had it the proper way," said Austin Millan, a friend of Lipko-Benito.

Two hours' worth of admission fees to Jump City Trampoline Park in Phoenix will be given to Lipko's family. Roger Ottaway, assistant scout master for Troop 329, said Lipko's mother is blind – and, in many ways, he had been her eyes.
A 16-year-old boy was walking near a bus stop when two truck collided at Central and Glendale avenues. The force of the crash caused one of the trucks to veer off the road and hit the boy. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The drivers of the two trucks were reported to be 19 and 36 years old.
