Man crossing Phoenix street killed by hit-and-run driver

A motorist who didn'€™t stop struck and killed a 57-year-old man as he crossed a Phoenix roadway early Sunday morning. The suspect vehicle may have been a 2005 to 2010 Chrysler 300 passenger car, Holmes said. The vehicle may have sustained lower front-end damage and would be missing a plastic wheel well. A police investigation determined William Barnes was apparently crossing 51st Avenue near the Maryvale Parkway intersection at around 4 a.m. when he was hit by a car heading north, according to Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes. Officers found his body lying in the road.
