RV loses control, rolls over near 101 & Thomas in west Valley

It happened along Loop 101 southbound at the Thomas Road off ramp in the west Valley. The RV reportedly lost control, veered off the road and flipped over. One subject was reportedly pinned or trapped under the vehicle.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Raul Garcia says victim was a Surprise man and that his wife was driving behind the RV in another vehicle and reported seeing "erratic driving behavior" before the RV rolled.

Rollover accident kills RV driver; wife witnesses crash

It happened shortly after 9 a.m. along Loop 101 southbound at the Thomas Road off ramp in the west Valley. The driver of an RV died Thursday morning in a rollover crash. And authorities say that driver's wife witnessed the accident as she drove behind the RV in a separate vehicle. She had been traveling behind the RV in a separate car and observed erratic driving behavior before the RV rolled over. The RV reportedly lost control, veered off the road and flipped over.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has released the name of the RV driver who died Thursday morning in a rollover crash. Troopers said that driver's wife witnessed the accident as she drove behind the RV in a separate vehicle along Loop 101 southbound at the Thomas Road off ramp shortly after 9 a.m. She had been traveling behind the RV in a separate car and observed erratic driving behavior before the RV rolled over. Smith reportedly lost control of the RV which veered off the road and flipped over. Smith was pinned under the RV and was declared dead at the scene.
