'It’s an absolute miracle': 2 survive small plane crash in northwest Phoenix

McDade said the pilot saw the engine light go on and contacted Deer Valley Airport, which was about four miles away from the crash site. Airport personnel then contacted the fire department, saying they had received a mayday call from a pilot who didn't believe the plane would make it to the airport.
