Multi-vehicle accident involving semi-trucks reported on Interstate 30 near Benton, Arkansas

TRAFFIC ALERT: Portion of I-30 near Benton closed after 18-wheeler crash

Westbound traffic is being diverted to U.S. 67 at mile marker 114 southwest of Benton, Sadler said. State police spokesman Bill Sadler said the accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. at mile marker 110 in the Benton area. A westbound portion of Interstate 30 is closed as crews work an accident involving 18-wheelers, according to Arkansas State Police. As of about 2:12 p.m., ArkansasOnline's traffic map showed travel stopped in the area. Additional information regarding the number of people involved, as well as any injuries, was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.

I-30 West Near Benton Shut Down

Arkansas State Police reported that the incident took place near 1:40 p.m. at the 110 mile marker.  As of 2:10 p.m., traffic is being diverted off the interstate at the 114 mile marker. One injury was reported from the wreck, but the victim's medical status isn't known at this time.

Most people have no idea of the mile marker system. It would serve the public tremendously if accidents were reported as being "near" something they are familiar with, such as "an accident in the west bound lanes near the Target in Benton".
