Teen Dies in Jefferson County Car Crash

The vehicle reportedly flipped about five times and traveled 550 feet before coming to rest in the middle of River Rd. at Jessica Drive.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR -- A teenager has died in a single vehicle accident. Cody L. Farley, 17, died in the Sunday evening crash. It happened around 6:30 near River Rd., just outside of Redfield. Farley, who was a passenger in the backseat, was thrown out of the vehicle. He was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and immediately taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he later died. The driver was identified as William Cook, 26. His sister, Kimberly Cook was also in the vehicle. According to investigators, Cook was speeding. Witnesses say he reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. Deputies say Cook lost control of the vehicle when he tried to avoid hitting a pedestrian who was identified as Phillip Goss. The vehicle reportedly flipped about five times and traveled 550 feet before coming to rest in the middle of River Rd. at Jessica Drive. Goss was given a breathalyzer test which returned a reading of 1.86 -- more than 20 times over the legal limit. He was arrested for public intoxication and failure to appear on a previous warrant. He is currently being held in the Jefferson County jail. The investigation continues.
