Eureka motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in collision; police look for witnesses

A 42-year-old Eureka resident sustained serious injuries on Thursday after a crash with a truck on Wabash Avenue around 5:50 p.m. A 53-year-old Fortuna man in a truck headed west turned left onto Pine Street and hit the motorcyclist. An ambulance responded to the scene with Eureka police and Humboldt Bay Fire and took the motorcyclist to St. Joseph Hospital, who was then airlifted out of the area for further treatment. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
