Highway 33 closed south of Mendota after three killed in big rig crash

The CHP said there were at least four people inside a vehicle that collided with a big rig around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The California Highway Patrol says a 2009 Mercedes SUV was headed east on Manning Avenue, when according to multiple witnesses, it ran a stop sign, traveling into the path of a tractor trailer going north on Highway 33.

Vinod Dhammy, 66, of Union City, and Kuldip Kumar, 64, of Union City, were both killed when their SUV slammed into a big rig on Manning Avenue at Highway 33.

More Victims Identified In Mendota Crash That Killed 5

The Deputy coroner is working to confirm the identity of one more person who was in the vehicle.  A total of five people in the vehicle died.
