CHP: Man killed, pregnant woman suspected of DUI in 41 crash
CHP officer Paul Varner said the crash happened about 9:50 p.m. on northbound Highway 41 just north of the North Fork turnoff. A Chevrolet Cruze driven by a pregnant woman from Clovis rear-ended a Hummer H3 driven by a Lemoore man. The Hummer careened down an embankment.

Ooley was not injured, but taken to a Valley hospital as a precaution. She was later arrested for felony DUI, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI conviction.

Candice Ooley had a 0.32 blood alcohol level – four times the legal limit of 0.08 – at the time of the collision, said David Linn, Madera County district attorney. He said she had a fight with her boyfriend in Clovis before the 9:50 p.m. crash on Highway 41 north of Road 200.

The lawyer for the Clovis woman charged with killing a motorist on Highway 41 in a drunken-driving crash said Wednesday that District Attorney Dave Linn has the good intention of wanting to keep Madera County safe, but he can’t charge defendant Candice Ooley with murder because there is no case law to support it.
