Child, grandmother die in Tulare area crash

According to the California Highway Patrol, George Espinosa was driving a 2012Honda Pilot south on Spacer Driver and approaching Avenue 200 when it was broadsided by an SUV. Charlotte Espinoza, the grandmother and the girl, were in the Pilot when it was struck.

The CHP said Cheyenne Wyllie, 25 of Exeter, was driving a 2013 Ford Edge west on Avenue 200 and approaching the intersection. She failed to yield at a posted stop sign, striking the Pilot on the driver's side, the CHP said.

Police say Wyllie blew a stop sign and arrested her for driving drunk. She has since bailed out of jail and faces charges of felony driving under the influence and two counts of manslaughter.

Bail denied in DUI death case

Cheyenne Ray Wyllie stood nearly motionless as a judge denied her bail on two counts of second-degree murder.

Her attorney, Richard Rumery, pleaded with the judge Monday, who set a bail hearing for next week in Visalia. Rumery tried to console Wyllie, 25, as she was led off, shackled and in a blue prison jumpsuit.

He said he listened carefully and admitted the alleged crimes were violent acts that took the lives of two people. But, stating California law, and setting restrictions on release, Alldredge set bail at $750,000. Wyllie will need to come up with $60,000 to post bond.

Wyllie is charged with two counts of murder, one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs causing injury, and one count of driving with a .08 or above blood alcohol level causing injury - all of which are felonies.
