"When I saw my brother lifeless at the hospital, my question was why," Jennifer said. "How could someone not stop and how could someone just keep going and not even see if the person that they hit was OK?"
Jose Guevarra, 55, was killed just before 10 PM on Friday, February 13, as he was attempting to cross Santa Fe Avenue on his wheelchair in Long Beach, California. A surveillance camera at a nearby gas station captured video of the incident. Guevarra stops inside to get a soda, goes out the door, and shortly after a dark sedan -- believed to possibly be a green BMW or similar make and color -- strikes him before he makes it to the other side of the street. Guevarra later died on Sunday when his family made the difficult decision of taking him off of life support. We will have more information on this story as new details become available.
