The driver in a late-night big rig crash is in serious condition after his truck overturned on the westbound 60 Freeway in the City of Industry after the driver swerved to avoid a disabled vehicle. The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night, according to CHP. Firefighter-rescue crews extricated the trapped driver from the cab after about two hours. According to CHP, the driver of the big rig was in the far right, slow lane of the freeway when a vehicle on the right shoulder tried entering the lane in front of the big rig. "They attempted to enter the lane in front of the big rig, didn’t give the big rig any room to react,” said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Nicholas King said. King said that when the driver attempted to react, his truck turned over and crashed into a tree. "The investigating officer said (the driver) was very concerned with how the other people (in the other car) were doing," King said. Investigators are considering whether fog was a factor in the crash. The crash caused lane closures overnight. As of 5 a.m., two freeway lanes were closed between Azusa and 7th Avenue as crews worked to clean up a disel spill. At about 6 a.m., a heavy tow vehicle pulled the trailer upright.
