43-year-old killed, 20-year-old injured, after a car driven by Sami Hayek, 40, the brother of actress Salma Hayek, collided head-on with a pickup on the Westside of Los Angeles, California

One person was killed when a Ford GT driven by the brother of actress Salma Hayek Monday morning was involved in a crash with a pickup Sunday evening on Sunset Boulevard. The crash occurred in the Beverly Crest area on Los Angeles' Westside at about 5 p.m. The driver of the 2006 Ford GT was identified as 40-year-old Sami Hayek, according to police. A passenger in the mid-engine, two-seat Ford sports car, later identified as Ian Cuttler Sala, 43, was killed in a head-on collision with a Toyota Tacoma pickup, police said. The 43-year-old victim, a resident of Mexico whose name was not released, died at the scene. Hayek, a Los Angeles-based designer of custom chairs, suffered broken ribs and cuts to the head, police said. He lost control of the vehicle traveling east on Sunset Boulevard and crossed into the westbound lanes, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The 20-year-old pickup driver suffered a broken foot, according to police. Details regarding the crash were not immediately available.
