Valley View High School students and graduates killed in crash near LAX

Three young students and graduates of Valley View High School in Moreno Valley died Saturday, July 30, when their car struck a concrete column off I-405 near Los Angeles International Airport, the California Highway Patrol said.

A Toyota Scion was approaching the curve at the end of the collector road that leads back to the 405 when the car suddenly veered off the road into a dirt embankment and then hit a concrete column, the release stated.

The CHP said the final victim was a 24-year-old San Bernardino woman, but her relatives and friends have said she was a 16-year-old from Moreno Valley. A Los Angeles County Coroner's Office official, asked Monday to clarify, said there was an issue with notifying that victim's next of kin, and he could not confirm details.
