The crash on the eastbound freeway at Del Mar Avenue occurred at 5:44 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported, and involved at least four to five vehicles.

Ng struck the BMW with his 2015 Honda CR-V, causing the BMW to block the No. 3 and 4 lanes, the officer said. Ng got out of his vehicle in the No. 4 lane and was struck by a Lexus RX300 that first struck the BMW.
