The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said. An 8-year-old, one of three children in the same vehicle as the woman, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Virginia Almajer, 32, of Fresno, was in a 2012 Nissan Rogue that rear-ended a 2017 Lexus IS 250 in the fast lane of the southbound I-5 south of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway on Saturday, March 3, California Highway Patrol Officer D. Hall said.
