One or two of the vehicles involved may have been parked when the crash occurred, and one of the vehicles caught fire with two people trapped inside.

Bystanders apparently used fire extinguishers and buckets of water to calm the flames until firefighters arrived at the scene, officials said.

Authorities identified the man as Mubarak Alqashout, 20, of Woodland Hills. He, along with two other men, were killed when a Ford Mustang he was in crashed into a car exiting a gas station in the 20900 block of Ventura Boulevard near De Soto Avenue.

One is Mubarak Al Qashout, 20, of Woodland Hills, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of operations and investigations for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The other is Adulrahman Ali, 20, said department chief Brian Elias. His residence was not available.

The third victim’s name is not being released until his family is notified.
