A 4-year-old California boy survived being tossed from an SUV during a crash when he landed on a small patch of plants just a few feet away from traffic, authorities said.

The youngster landed on a soft bed of ice plants planted along the freeway. He was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center with minor injuries.
