The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on the southbound 55 Freeway near the 22nd Street on-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.
When rescuers arrived, they found one person trapped inside the Corvette, according to a tweet from the Costa Mesa Fire Department.
