Officials said that a passenger standing outside a stalled car on the 60 Freeway was killed just before midnight Friday evening.

Christian Martinez, 20, of Moreno Valley, the passenger of a Honda Civic that crashed into a center median on 60 near Nason St in Moreno Valley, CA, was standing in the carpool lane when struck. The vehicle was blocking lanes and Martinez stepped out of the car. A Volkswagen Jetta couldn’t avoid the Civic and struck its left side and Martinez, who was declared dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Jetta were taken to Riverside Community Hospital.
