The driver of a vehicle who died in a crash in Rancho Cordova on Monday has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office. The motorist was identified as Mark Williams, 46, of Rancho Cordova. The crash that killed Williams occurred about 6 p.m. Monday on Douglas Road between Timberland Drive and Rancho Cordova Parkway. The Nissan coupe he was driving was reported traveling eastbound at speeds well in excess of the posted speed limits, according to a Rancho Cordova Police Department news release. The front of the Nissan collided with the rear of an eastbound Toyota sedan, and the Toyota traveled off the roadway, striking a power pole. The Nissan then crossed into the westbound lane where it collided head on with a westbound Chevrolet, according to police. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers were treated at local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Based on preliminary findings, police said the cause of the collision appears to be speed-related, but the crash remains under investigation.   How can a lawyer help with an auto accident claim? First, having a lawyer on your side levels the playing field.  The person who caused the accident is required to immediately turn the case over to his or her insurance company.  The insurance company uses adjusters and lawyers who are specifically trained to deny or reduce your claim.  This may include denying compensation to family members who are entitled to receive benefits for loss of companionship.
