An accident on Florin Road Friday night left one victim dead and another in the hospital with major injuries.

A 62-year-old female in a Jeep SUV was traveling east on Florin Road near Lindale at 25-35 miles per hour when two pedestrians crossed her path. The 59-year-old female and 40-year-old male were attempting to cross to the north side of the street when the driver hit them. The two were wearing dark clothing and there were no crosswalks in sight, California Highway Patrol reported.

Sacramento Fire responded at 6:25 p.m. and declared the female dead on the scene. The male was taken to Kaiser South hospital, where he is being treated for life threatening injuries.

The driver remained on the scene. No arrests were made.
