A teen in a large car, who allegedly admitted to being drunk, slammed into a traffic control box and then fled deputies early Tuesday morning near Madison Avenue and Interstate 80.

The 16-year-old girl was reported about 5 a.m. Monday to be ramming a parked vehicle in the neighborhood around Venuto Way. As Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, the car was seen leaving.

Deputies tried to pull the car over but the girl refused to stop, starting a short pursuit that ended near Madison Avenue and I-80. There, the car crashed into a traffic control box and the girl fled across the street to a car wash.

She was detained there and taken to the hospital. The girl admitted to being intoxicated, according to a sheriff’s department spokeswoman.

After being medically cleared, the spokeswoman said the teen would likely be booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on charges related to the pursuit, felony vandalism for ramming a car on purpose and auto theft.
