Modified Date:Wed, 09/02/2015 - 10:59am
Accident Date:Friday, June 5, 2015
Multiple lanes of northbound I-5 and the 43rd Avenue onramp were all closed for about three hours as crews worked to clear the scene, causing a major backup during the morning commute.
At about 4:15 a.m., Timothy Bolton, who has now been arrested for suspected DUI, was driving on I-5 when he lost control and crashed into a sign and a pole. He then exited his vehicle and began to run down the freeway. As he was in the roadway, a pickup truck suddenly swerved in an attempt to avoid the man, but crashed and caused a pileup involving several more vehicles. One person died in that pileup, and two others were hospitalized. A woman, who was a passenger in Bolton's car, was also taken to the hospital. Check back for updates on this developing story.
